Public Comments Due

Dec 15, 2017

Public comments are due soon on several proposed major projects that affect our rural area.

Comments on Lakeside Industries’ proposed Asphalt Plant on its SR 169 property (site of the former Sunset Materials and the King County Shops) are to be submitted to King County Department of Permitting and Environmental Review (DPER) by no later than December 31, 2017.  Included in this proposed project is an Environmental Checklist (as to which DPER has tentatively proposed to issue a Determination of Non-Significance) for the Asphalt Plant and a grading permit to effect site preparation and clean up of petroleum products in the soil and, according to past reports, groundwater under the State Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) administered by the Department of Ecology.

Comments on Reserve Silica Corporation’s Remedial Investigation (RI) Report (site south of Ravensdale towards Black Diamond) regarding site clean up of materials under MTCA are to be submitted to the Department of Ecology in January 2018 (specific date has not been specified, but the earlier in January the better).

More information on both the Asphalt Plant and Reserve Silica may be found on the website in the Current Issues box.  Detailed information, including reports and applications, may be found in the respective section (documents are generally found on the agency website that may be accessed by a clickable link).
