The Area Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, November 5, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the Maple Valley Fire Station #81--SE corner of SE 231st St & SR-169. We will have guest speakers from local and State agencies present and discuss programs for planned improvements to the I-90 / Front Street Interchange and the Issaquah-Hobart Road Corridor. The Area Council will discuss other local issues of importance. Future Council Meetings and planned topics and guest speakers are presented as information becomes available. The Area Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, August 6, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the Maple Valley Fire Station--SE corner of SE 231st St & SR-169. We plan to have several guest speakers to present and discuss the renewal of coal mining operations at the John Henry #1 Mine near Black Diamond. David Morris and Barry Kombol for Pacific Coast Coal Company will be present to discuss this project, together with representatives from the King County DPER, State Dept of Ecology, and Puget Soundkeeper Alliance. Although no representative from the State Dept of Natural Resources is able to attend our meeting, we received from the State Geologist/Division Manager a very important statement regarding the DNR's regulatory position relating to surface coal mining in our State.
