The Area Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, May 7, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the Maple Valley Fire Station--SE corner of SE 231st St & SR-169. ** King County released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Cedar Hills Landfill Site Development Plan in September 2020. In early 2021 a Final EIS (FEIS) is expected to be issued for public review and comment.

The GMVUAC will hold a Special Meeting on Friday, November 16, from 7 - 9:30 PM at its customary location in the Conference Room of MVF&LS Station #81. Department of Ecology, Reserve Silica, and Holcim representatives will present and discuss with all attendees the Draft Agreed Order (which is an agreement to conduct a remedial investigation, feasibility study, and draft cleanup action plan) for the Reserve Silica Mine Site. Public comments on several major projects that affect our rural area must be submitted soon. Topics the GMVUAC are tracking include Reserve Silica, Asphalt Facility, Franchise Compensation Rulemaking, and Solid Waste Plan Update. The GMVUAC encourages members of the public who have a particular concern regarding either of these projects to review the available information and submit comments to the proper agency.
