The Area Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, May 7, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the Maple Valley Fire Station--SE corner of SE 231st St & SR-169. Guest speakers include (1) Larry Baumgart with the Maple Valley Farmer's Market who will present to, and discuss with, the Council the inclusion of the GMVUAC as a stakeholder/member of the MVFM's Board; and (2) Department of Ecology's Madeline Wall to discuss the public outreach program relating to the Reserve Silica Mine site cleanup. April 2018 Meeting

The Area Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 2, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the Maple Valley Fire Station--SE corner of SE 231st St & SR-169. Mike Thompson will be sworn in as our newest Council Member. Harold Taniguchi, Director of KC Transportation, will be attending to provide information and answer questions about the proposal to create a new Department of Local Services to improve services to rural areas as well as the remaining urban unincorporated areas of King County. March 2018 Meeting

The Area Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, March 5, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the Maple Valley Fire Station--SE corner of SE 231st St & SR-169. Fire Chief Aaron Tyerman, MV Fire & Life Safety, FD #43, will present a brief update of relevant funding and organizational issues following the recent ballot measure. ** King County released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Cedar Hills Landfill Site Development Plan in September 2020.  In early 2021 a Final EIS (FEIS) is expected to be issued for public review and comment. ** WaDOE Announces Waste Reduction & Recycling Education Grants Program. ** KC SWD is recruiting membership on its Solid Waste Advisory Committee. ** BPA announces vegetation management plan details for Maple Valley #1 Transmission Line.

November 16 Special Meeting

The GMVUAC will hold a Special Meeting on Friday, November 16, from 7 - 9:30 PM at its customary location in the Conference Room of MVF&LS Station #81. Department of Ecology, Reserve Silica, and Holcim representatives will present and discuss with all attendees the Draft Agreed Order (which is an agreement to conduct a remedial investigation, feasibility study, and draft cleanup action plan) for the Reserve Silica Mine Site. IMPORTANT NOTE: PUBLIC MEETING/HEARING ON FRANCHISE COMPENSATION REVISED FINAL RULE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 19, 2018 -- READ MORE OR SEE CURRENT ISSUES - FRANCHISE COMPENSATION RULEMAKING WEBPAGE FOR DETAILS. Public comments on several major projects that affect our rural area must be submitted soon. Topics the GMVUAC are tracking include Reserve Silica, Asphalt Facility, Franchise Compensation Rulemaking, and Solid Waste Plan Update. Specific information, including links to agency reports and applications, is available on this website in the Current Issues box. The GMVUAC encourages members of the public who have a particular concern regarding either of these projects to review the available information and submit comments to the proper agency.
